WSU Recruiting Notebook

WITH THE Washington State coaches out on vacation until the end of July, there were no known offers that went out the door this past week - seemingly the first time that's happened since February. But with two verbal pledges in recent days, the Cougs’ 2016 class is also now 40 percent full.

WR Grant Porter and corner/nickel back Skyler Thomas brought to 10 the number of known commits in the class. (CB Tayari Venable this past week also became the first verbal pledge of WSU’s 2017 class).

The Cougars now have verbal commitments from four wide receivers, one CB/NB, one o-lineman, one ATH, one CB, one LB and a QB.

All of the future Cougars are either from California (7) or Washington (3).

Five of the 10 are rated three stars on, the other five are either two stars or have not yet been rated.

At this time last year, Mike Leach had six verbal pledges.

How Washington State compares to rest of the Pac-12 in known verbal commitments for the 2016 class:

Cal – 16
USC – 14
UCLA – 14
Oregon – 12
Stanford – 11
Washington State – 10
Oregon State – 9
Utah – 9
Arizona State – 8
Arizona – 7
UW – 4
Colorado – 3
