Vegas: Cougs cruise in opener, tested Week 2

WASHINGTON STATE fans should enjoy a late lunch following the opener against Portland State on Sept. 5. That’s the early word out of Las Vegas.

5Dimes has pegged Washington State as a 28-point favorite over Portland State to kick off the season. It’s an early start on Saturday, Sept. 5, with a kickoff time of 11 a.m. on the Pac-12 Networks. WSU beat Portland State 59-21 last season (pictured above is Jeremiah Allison).

5Dimes also has betting lines up on three other Washington State games.

WSU is a 5.5-point underdog at Rutgers on Sept. 12. The kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. PT and will be televised on either ESPNU or ESPN2. Rutgers beat WSU in Seattle in last year’s opener 41-38.

The Cougs will be 2-1 after their nonconference slate if the betting lines holds. 5Dimes has host Washington State as a 15-point favorite over Wyoming. The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast by the Pac-12 Networks.

The Cougs are a seven-point underdog at Cal on Oct. 1 to open the Pac-12 slate. TV and kickoff time have yet to be determined. WSU lost to Cal 60-59 last season.

The only other betting line we’ve seen for WSU has been from the Golden Nugget Casino. They peg Washington State as a 4.5-point underdog in the Apple Cup, played in Seattle on Friday, Nov. 27.

The WSU-UW game this season is the only Cougar game not being played on a Saturday. It will be televised by either ESPN or ABC, with kickoff time to be determined.
