WSU Week 1 depth chart features new faces

THE OFFICIAL WSU DEPTH CHART for Week 1 has been released. Two Cougar rookies -- true freshman CB Darrien Molton (pictured above) and junior college transfer free safety Shalom Luani - are listed atop the depth chart at their respective positions. Isaac Dotson is the No. 1 nickel, with Darius Lemora right behind him. The Washington State special teams will also see a lot of new faces in Week 1.

But first, some quick impressions on the listings on offense and defense:

  • The official depth chart continues to list Luke Falk and Peyton Bender as -OR- at quarterback.

  • Robert Barber is listed as the No. 1 nose tackle for Portland State, with Daniel Ekuale the No. 2.

  • Ivan McLennan and Kache Palacio as listed as -OR- at the Rush spot.

  • The No. 2 linebackers at the WIL and MIK are Frankie Luvu and Chandler Leniu, respectively, backing up starters Jeremiah Allison and Peyton Pelluer.

  • Hunter Dale looks like he's going to play as a true freshman - he's listed as the No. 2 free safety behind Shalom Luani.

  • Kirkland Parker looks to be able to play both corner and safety - he's listed as the No. 2 strong safety behind Taylor Taliulu on the depth chart.

  • Marcellus Pippins is the No. 2 behind Darrien Molton at corner, with Charleston White the other CB starter.

    On special teams, Zach Charme is the Cougs' new punter. Erik Powell is listed as the Cougs' kicker and also the No. 2 punter behind Charme. Brett Schafer is listed as the No. 2 kicker.

    Lucas Gravelle is the long snapper, backed up by Kyle Celli. The holder is true freshman walk on Kaleb Fossum, backed up by starting Y receiver River Cracraft.

    In the return game, Kyrin Priester will return punts with starting Z Gabe Marks the No. 2 punt return man. (Prister is also expected to get significant turns at wideout and is listed as the No. 2 X receiver behind starter Dom Williams).

    On kickoff returns, Tavares Martin is the primary returner with Priester also listed. Martin is the No. 2 Z behind Marks.
