COUGFAN TV: Leach has no doubt Falk will play

PULLMAN -- Mike Leach has no doubt that QB Luke Falk will be his starter against Rutgers. And when he gets under center on Saturday in New Jersey (12:30 p.m. PT, ESPNU) Leach wants Falk to pick up the tempo. Leach has always allowed his QBs a great deal of freedom to change the play based on their read of the D - but that freedom may be curtailed.

Leach covered a wide range of topics in the presser. Leach noticed guys trying to do too much in the loss to Portland State but said he didn't notice anyone making excuses or whining.

"If I get any of those whining guys I'm just going to cut 'em.. cut some last year.. should have cut 'em sooner. But we don't have any of that (now) and I haven't seen any of that either," said Leach.

On defense, with the missed tackles, it was more about players being in the wrong place to make the tackle than it was the d-line not getting enough heat or penetration, said Leach.

In trying to make everything perfect, in trying too hard, the offense in the first half left a lot of points on the table, said Leach.

"We had 43 plays and 10 points - well, that's crazy," he said.
