NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 2

TWO FORMER COUGAR greats lined up opposite each other on Sunday when safety Deone Bucannon and his Arizona Cardinals took on receiver Marquess Wilson and his Chicago Bears.

Bucannon didn’t get much of an opportuntity to reunite with Wilson, however. Although targeted five times, Wilson caught just one pass, for 10 yards, in the Bears’ 48-23 loss to Arizona.

Bucannon, a second-year safety, tallied four solo tackles (one for a loss) and forced a fumble in the victory.


Husain Abdullah, FS, Kansas City, 7th season: No recorded stats from the Chiefs’ 31-24 loss to Denver; lost the handle on a would-be interception in the third quarter.

Xavier Cooper, DL, Cleveland, rookie: No recorded stats from the Browns’ 28-14 defeat of Tennessee.

John Fullington, G, Arizona, 2nd season: Did not play; on injured reserve.

Brandon Gibson, WR, New England, 7th season: Did not play; on injured reserve.

Chris Ivory, RB, New York Jets, 6th season: Carried the ball 14 times for 57 yards and caught 2 passes for 3 yards in the Jets’ 20-7 win against Indianapolis on Monday night.

Travis Long, LB, Philadelphia, 3rd year: Did not play; on injured reserve.

Vince Mayle, WR, Dallas, rookie: Did not play; assigned to the Cowboys’ practice squad.

Ropati Pitoitua, DE, Tennessee, 7th season: The Tacoma native posted one tackle in the Titans’ loss to Cleveland.
