Future Washington State Cougars report: football

One future Washington State Cougar was a terror from his linebacker position, while another linebacker returned a fumble for a touchdown. But the brightest performance likely came from Jalen Thompson, who had a major impact on both sides of the ball in his team's 13-0 win. Here's how all of WSU's 15 known verbal commits fared during last week's games:

WR/DB Jalen Thompson (Downey/Downey, Calif.): Thompson was a monster on defense, as he returned an interception 99 yards for a touchdown, and had eight tackles in Downey's 13-0 win. Thompson has caught three passes for 88 yards as a receiver.

WR/DB Renard Bell (Cathedral/Los Angeles): Another week means another big game from Bell. Offensively, Bell caught five passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns, and had one run for three yards. On defense, Bell had a pass defensed. Cathedral won 56-17 over La Salle.

ILB Jihad Woods (Helix Charter/La Mesa, Calif.): Woods had a big impact in the Helix Charter's 41-6 victory over Steele Canyon. Woods had three tackles, four assisted tackles, one tackle for loss, one quarterback hurry and a pass break up.

QB (ATH) Justus Rogers (Bellevue/Bellevue): Rogers threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter of the Bellevue's 42-14 win over Juanita. The touchdown passes were 4 and 17 yards.

OLB Derek Moore (Crenshaw/Los Angeles): Moore (pictured above) returned a fumble 48 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter, but it was enough as Crenshaw lost 28-26 to Los Angeles (yes, there really is a Los Angeles High School). It was the first loss in the league for Crenshaw since 2011.

TE/DE Mason Vinyard (Helix Charter/La Mesa, Calif.): Vinyard had two tackles and two assisted tackles in Helix Charter's 41-6 victory over Steele Canyon.

WR Josiah Westbrook (Squalicum/Bellingham): Westbrook was injured last week and missed his team’s game. The injury was not disclosed.

WR Grant Porter (Upland/Upland, Calif.): Porter was injured earlier in the year, and he is expected to be out for at least one more week.

CB Isaiah Love (West Covina/West Covina, Calif.): Love is still recovering from an injury sustained from a car accident in May. I haven’t received an update in two weeks.

OL/DL Joshua Watson (Cascade/Everett): Watson was involved in Cascade's 35-28 loss to Snohomish, an outcome that dropped the team's record to 0-6 this season.

QB (ATH) D'Jimon Jones (Federal Way/Federal Way): Jones broke his foot earlier in the year, no updates for a few weeks.

QB Cody Brewer (Flour Bluff/Corpus Christi): The team was on a bye this week.

OLB Chima Onyeukwu (Contra Costa JC): The team was on a bye this week.

S Skyler Thomas (Citrus Hill/Perris, Calif.): No report available.

WR Stephen Houston (Rio Mesa/Oxnard, Calif.): No report available
