Behind seven turnovers, Washington State suffers its worst Apple Cup loss, 45-10, since 2000

THE COUGARS' lopsided Apple Cup loss came via one number: seven. That is how many times Washington State turned the ball over as it lost its third consecutive game against Washington, 45-10, Saturday at Husky Stadium.

The Huskies (6-6 overall, 4-5 Pac-12) became bowl eligible as they outgained WSU 443-319. UW did it behind a pair of true freshmen as Myles Gaskin finished with 138 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries. His teammate, quarterback Jake Browning, completed 14 of 20 passes for 203 yards.

Meanwhile, the Cougars, who started redshirt freshman Peyton Bender in place of injured Luke Falk, suffered their largest margin-of-defeat in the Apple Cup since 2000 (51-3). Bender completed 36 of 58 passes for 288 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted twice for WSU (8-4, 6-3).
