What’s next for Cougs this week

THE REGULAR SEASON is over, a bowl game awaits and recruiting has shifted to a new phase and ramped up. What about the players, what are they doing this week?

Lifting and studies.

For the first time since the bye week and with the regular season now in the books, there are no WSU player or coach press conferences on Monday. And with finals not far off, Cougar players will have their noses in the books.

All the coaches are already, or will be by this afternoon, out on the road recruiting - including Mike Leach.

The bowl game practice schedule will not be set up until it’s officially announced a week from today which bowl game the Cougs are playing in. ESPN’s bowl selection show is scheduled for Dec. 6, with the show starting at 9:30 a.m. PT.

So for Cougar football, this week is all about recruiting, recruiting, recruiting.

Stay tuned to CF.C with the in-home visitation period getting underway today. And don't forget, the Cougs will begin their first official visit weekend of the year on Friday.

The visitors list is always a fluid document right up to the weekend but as of early Sunday afternoon, eight prospects are scheduled to be in town including two soft verbals to other schools (Florida, Oregon State).

For Cougar basketball, meanwhile, mark Wednesday on your calendar (if you haven’t already).

Washington State (4-0) plays host to No. 10 Gonzaga on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m.

The Cougars, by design, have played a soft non conference schedule to begin the 2015-16 campaign but now face their first serious test of the season.

WSU has outscored their competition through four games by an average margin of 80-65  (Northern Arizona, Idaho State, Cal State LA, Texas Southern).
