NEWSLINE: Jacob Eason's coach downplays Leach meeting

COUGAR FANS WONDERING if anything might come of Lake Stevens quarterback Jacob Eason's meeting with Mike Leach earlier this week probably don't have to wonder any longer based on what his prep coach said to a Georgia fan site.

Tom Tri, Lake Stevens High head coach, was quoted in saying Georgia shouldn't be worried about Eason going to WSU or anywhere else, after being quoted earlier by the Seattle Times as saying things were more up in the air.

“In all honesty Jacob is one of the most loyal guys I’ve ever met,” Tri is quoted as saying in the article. “He had (Washington State head coach) Mike Leach sitting here yesterday now in my office pawing all over him and he was strong. He said ‘I’m a Georgia commit’ and they were asking if he would take an official visit and he said he had to talk to his Dad. He’s a loyal kid. I know he’s (visiting) in Florida now and that’s one of the biggest rivals for Georgia... But he’s a pretty loyal kid. He’s been wearing the red and black around here for the last year-and-half and I don’t see that changing a whole lot unless he absolutely falls in love with somewhere else.”

The article said Tri could only see Eason showing interest in Cal, Washington or UCLA and that a Pac-12 school would have a better shot at Eason than would Alabama, Florida or Florida State.
