BREAKING: Salt Lake City sackmaster to WSU

MIKE LEACH delayed official visit weekends until after the regular season as part of a new recruiting strategy. He's sure making up for lost time. A little more than 24 hours after Washington State's first official visit weekend got underway, the Cougs had already picked up their second verbal of the night in the form of Salt Lake City sackmaster Lyric Bartley.

Bartley verbally committed early Saturday evening, after safety Robert Taylor became the first known pledge of the weekend..

In nine games this season, Bartley posted 61 tackles (43 solo) -- with 13 sacks and 18 tackles-for-loss -- along with four pass break ups.

Highly athletic, the 6-4, 240-pounder out of Taylorsville High also had five rushing TDs on offense.

He pledged WSU over offers from Vanderbilt, Nevada, Utah State and others and is rated a 2-star prospect on Joe Salave'a is WSU's area recruiter for Utah.

Bartley becomes the 22nd known verbal commitment in Leach's 2016 class, joining S Robert Taylor, RB Romello Harris, OL Christian Haangana, OL Jaelen Lewis, OL Keenen King, CB Marcus Strong, ATH Justus Rogers DE Mason Vinyard, CB Isaiah Love, LB Derek Moore, LB Chima Onyeukwu, QB Cody Brewer, WR Grant Porter, CB/Nickel Skyler Thomas, OL Joshua Watson, WR Josiah Westbrook, WR/CB D'Jimon Jones, WR Stephen Houston, CB Jalen Thompson, WR/CB Renard Bell and LB Jihad Woods.
