We already knew WSU would play seven home games in Pullman in 2016-17 -- Bill Moos first announced that 18 months ago. And the Cougs had already scheduled their ’16 non-conference slate, with upset-minded Eastern at home, a road trip to Boise State and Idaho back on the menu.
What we learned today was that the Cougs will play host to UCLA and, just like last season, miss USC and Utah.
Pac-12 analyst Yogi Roth predicted if the Cougs beat Miami in the Sun Bowl, they’ll be ranked in the top 25 to open next season. Roth no doubt liked the fact WSU has seven home games. And Washington State will play those seven regular season games in Martin Stadium. It's the first time that has happened since the 1999 season.
WSU played just five home games in Pullman in 2012 and 2013, with one game each of those seasons played in Seattle. WSU played six in Pullman and one in Seattle in 2014. This season, the Cougs played all six home games in Pullman. (Moos has said the 2014 Seattle game was WSU’s last).
The Cougs' bye is after their non conference slate, ahead of the Pac-12 opener vs. Oregon in Pullman. The only game not held on a Saturday is the Apple Cup, which will kick off Friday, Nov. 25. All WSU games will be televised (broadcaster and kickoff time information won't be announced for a while yet).
