Baseball: Cougs suddenly headed the wrong way

LESS THAN A week ago, Washington State’s baseball team was celebrating a series win over a top 15 team in Washington. But after the Cougs’ doubleheader loss to McNeese State on Friday, WSU suddenly finds itself on a season-high five-game losing streak.

Washington State lost 8-2 and 6-2 to McNeese State at Bailey-Brayton Field Friday. Both games of the doubleheader were seven inning contests.

Washington State was held to nine hits over the two games, while allowing 20.

The Cougs dropped to 17-33 overall while McNeese State improved to 29-22.  Washington State has now lost the last game of the UW series, a midweek tilt vs. Gonzaga and the first three games to McNeese State.

The four-game series concludes Saturday at 2 p.m.

WSU has four games left after Sunday: one against Washington and a three-game series at home against Cal.
