WSU preferred walk ons getting early jump

WASHINGTON STATE's signing class isn't the only group getting a head start. Several preferred walk ons have arrived on campus in recent days to join the program and take part in WSU's summer bridge program.

Five WSU preferred walk ons will start class on Wednesday, sources tell CF.C:

1. LB/RB Dylan Axelson (pictured above, 6-0, 202) Woodinville
2. WR Riley Krenz (5-11, 185) Lake Stevens 
3. LB Jakob Eisenbeiss (6-2, 195) Sherwood, Oregon  
4. LB Dillon Sherman (6-2, 220) Lake Forest, Calif., El Toro High
5. LS Jack Haney (6-2, 210) Sacramento, Capital Christian

Note: Walk on JUCO QB Trey Tinsley out of Fullerton is also starting summer school at Washington State this week.

Axelson posted 97 tackles (53 solo) his senior season en route to first-team AP All-State and Seattle Times All-Area honors.

Krenz was named first-team Class 4A Associated Press All-State as a senior after catching 68 passes for 1,146 yards and  11TDs.

Eisenbeiss, a versatile ATH who could play linebacker, nickel or safety, earned first team All-League honors his senior season at linebacker and running back

Sherman logged 101 tackles (69 solo) with nine sacks as a senior, earning All-CIF, All-County and All-League honors. He hails from El Toro High, where Tinsley and Cougar walk on WR Kaleb Fossum also prepped.

Meanwhile, known preferred walk ons who plan to arrive to WSU ahead of August's fall camp include these five from in-state:

1. QB Bryce Missey (6-0, 190) Bethel
2. Punter Tommy Park (5-11, 160) Mt. Vernon
3. Kicker Jack Crane (6-1, 180) Skyline
4. MLB Erik Glueck (6-2, 220) Bellarmine Prep
5. DL Francis Haroon (6-2, 235) Bellevue

Note: WR Keynan Foster (5-10, 180) is also walking on as a second-year sophomore. He spent this past season at FAMU and is originally out of Jackson High in Seattle.  He played in five games for FAMU this past season, primarily on special teams, returning seven kickoffs for 97 yards.

CF.C is also hearing from prep sources additional preferred walk on types from California will likely join the Cougs in time for fall camp. We'll keep you posted.
