WSU FB: Post-Lewiston depth chart projection

PULLMAN - The portion of Washington State's fall camp spent in Lewiston closed Sunday with the first team scrimmage. Skyler Cracraft, our man on the ground, has projected a depth chart based on the first nine practice sessions. Andre Dillard, Cody O'Connell, Logan Tago, Dylan Hanser and Robert Taylor are just a few who are battling to replace departed starters.

Though Mike Leach won't put an official depth chart out for a couple more weeks, it's not too early to forecast what the 1s and 2s could look like by the time the season opener on September 3rd rolls around.

At this point in camp, the competition at running back is too close to call. There are four backs (Jamal MorrowGerard WicksJames Williams and Keith Harrington) listed who are virtually interchangeable. The WSU offensive line projected starters are beginning to gel which is creating opportunities for handoffs to any running back to be an explosive play.

Typically you don't hear a lot about special teams early in the camp. This year has been no exception. However, Leach shows confidence in place kicker Erik Powell.  Following a 52-yard attempt he quipped about the range of Powell.

"It's hard to say, he's kicking up hill here (in Lewiston). We're rarely going to kick it uphill." He added, "And against the wind, too."

Special teams coach Eric Mele will likely put the best athletes from the roster out on the field. It's noteworthy that there are a number offensive and defensive starters anticipated to see plenty of action as part of the kicking game.

Here's our expectation of how the depth chart is filling out.
