Two Cougs named ESPN.com preseason All-Pac-12

A PAIR OF Washington State offensive players were named to ESPN.com’s preseason All-Pac-12 team on Monday.

Here’s what ESPN had to say about Luke Falk and Gabe Marks.

QB Luke Falk, Washington State: The returning first-team All-Pac-12 quarterback has Wazzu fans excited by the possibility of their best season in more than a decade. Falk threw for 4,561 yards and 38 touchdowns last year, with just eight interceptions.

WR Gabe Marks, Washington State: A serious candidate for the Biletnikoff Award, Marks' totals for catches (104) and touchdown receptions (15) each rank in the top seven in the Pac-12’s single-season record book.

It’s not unexpected given the preseason awards watch lists, but Wazzu did not have any players named to the ESPN.com team from the defensive side of the ball.

Still, the guess here is that Cougars like safety Shalom Luani, linebacker Peyton Pelluer, d-end Hercules Mata’afa and several others might be playing with a chip on their shoulder come the opener on Sept. 3.
