Kent: Expect to see more speed on WSU hardcourt, more intense defense in 2016-17

ERNIE KENT on Monday at Washington State’s on-campus media day said this year’s squad will speed things up more than last year. And he said the Cougs will be more intense on the defensive end of the floor. Seniors Ike Iroegbu and Josh Hawkinson also took their turn at the mic.

Kent reiterated that recruiting in-state remains the long term focus, and pointed to his back-to-back signing of players of the year the last two classes in Tacoma’s Malachi Flynn and Federal Way’s Viont’e Daniels.

Flynn “will not disappoint people,” Kent said, and both he and fellow true freshman point guard Milan Acquaah already well understand how to run his system.
