CFC TV: Washington State's defensive coordinator Alex Grinch says pressure is key to slowing down Oregon's offense

PULLMAN - Oregon's ability to run the ball is always on the mind of any opposing defensive coordinator. But Cougar DC Alex Grinch says don't underestimate the importance of what a good Wazzu pass rush would do on Saturday (6:30 p.m., Pac-12 Networks) for Washington State. Grinch also seemed somewhat pleased with where the Cougar D was at after Wednesday's session. "I thought we bounced around pretty good," said Grinch.

To me, the preparation on Wednesday, the last full session before conference play, had a different energy about it on the Washington State practice fields. Units were very vocal as they transitioned between drills, and the tempo has increased from what I saw.

"I think part of it as you're getting into the season.. more confidence in calls, more confidence in the things that you're going to see from a play standpoint, and a general sense of what a Wednesday practice is supposed to look like and feel like, some of that's just getting younger guys more experience" Grinch said.
