Washington State vs UCLA: 5 keys for Cougars vs. Bruins

UCLA IS A frustrated team headed into its game vs. the Cougars – but still one that will try to punish you into submission. Washington State needs to use a hostile crowd (and perhaps the weather) and make the Bruins want to get on the plane headed home early.

1. Protect Luke Falk.
UCLA has a reputation for questionable hits and has taken the quarterback out of the last two games. WSU can lose more than one game this week if they don't protect Falk.

2. Pound the rock.
WSU has the running advantage in this game, which will be vital if the weather turns ugly.

3. Make the Bruins' backup QB beat you.
More and more UCLA beat writers are thinking Rosen is out for this one. And UCLA, if the limited sample size is any indication, doesn't have a lot of star power in former walk on and backup QB Mike Fafaul

4. Go for the jugular.
WSU has a mediocre defense according to some Bruin beat writers.  An attacking scheme will really cause havoc if UCLA continues to struggle offensively.

5. Don't stress about the field goals
With potentially high winds and rain on the menu, neither team figures to be settling for three.

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. / ESPN
Matt Moore's Prediction: Cougs 35, Bruins 27
