HALF: WSU comes alive in 2nd to lead 17-14

TEMPE - Washington State started slow but found their spark with a big special teams play. Luke Falk has taken a few hits but found his rhythm to throw for 161-yards completing 20 of 24 pass attempts and a TD. Mike Leach will be looking for ways at halftime to get the Wazzu running game going after netting a minus-six yards in the first 30-minutes.

The Cougs carried momentum into their Pac-12 contest with Arizona State. Heck, that's the takeaway from a four game winning streak. This team doesn't seem to do many good things when they travel to Tempe, but this isn't the same team reflected by that history.

Arizona State jumped out to a 14-3 lead after Kalen Ballage took a snap out of their Sparky formation and scampered up the middle for a 52-yard touchdown.'s Skyler Cracraft boldly predicted during his practice report this week that it was just a matter of time before WSU would see their kickoff return unit put a touchdown up on the scoreboard. He proved to be prophetic.

After managing just a 29-yard Erik Powell in their first three possessions, Washington State came out of their offensive doldrums when Robert Taylor (pictured above) returned the ensuing kickoff to the house 100-yards up the right sideline. Taylor's special team score was the first time a Cougar returned a kickoff since Sammy Moore accomplished the feat back in 2003.

Luke Falk begins and WSU streak of at least one touchdown pass in a game with his strike to Tavares Martin late in the first half.

Stay tuned, we’ll have complete coverage coming up on!
