CFC TV: Under the rules Leach could only turn away from his ASU adversary; Gabe Marks got to stiff arm his Devil in the face for 15 yards

UNDER THE RULES, Washington State’s Mike Leach felt he could only walk away from his ASU adversary without exposing his wallet to more damage. But Cougar wide receiver Gabe Marks, under the rules, got to stiff arm his Devil in the face for a good 15 yards. It’s good to be a player sometimes, rather than a coach. Let’s got to the video tape.

It felt like a dagger at the time. Washington State’s Luke Falk lofted a perfect fourth quarter pass down the sideline to  Marks – who then pushed at the would-be ASU tackler for 15 hashes and into the end zone. In the end, the 52-yard TD reception didn’t herald the start of a rout, but the decisive scoreboard blow.

Falk’s touch and Marks’ mad dash was the difference in coming out of the desert with a 37-32 win. It also allowed the Cougs’ to keep a firm hold on their Rose Bowl plans. Washington State has now won five straight and stands 4-0 in the Pac-12 North.  The Huskies are tied with the Cougs in conference play, also at 4-0. No other Pac-12 team is undefeated in conference play.
