WSU recruiting: Future Coug lands Cal offer, doesn’t blink

GEORGE MOORE used to be an under-the-radar 6-6, 315-pound junior college o-lineman prospect, one who verbally committed to Mike Leach and Washington State back in June. But other Pac-12 schools are now looking his way. Cal, looking to pull Moore away from the Cougs, put a scholie on the table this week. Does that change anything for Moore and his pledge to Wazzu?

We asked Moore exactly that.  We barely got the question out before he answered, succinctly.

“No,” Moore said.

Unfortunately, Moore said he was in a car making the long drive home from College of San Mateo late at night and asked if we could talk later but we’ve been unable to reconnect with him as of press time.

Moore was a recruiting unknown this summer for most schools because he barely played last year as a true freshman before injuring his ACL.

But this season he’s helped lead CSM to a 9-0 record. In last week's game, Moore delivered a huge block to set up the winning score.

Moore also is that valuable JUCO recruit who has 3-to-play-3.

He is on pace to graduate in December and plans on joining WSU in January.  WSU's Jim Mastro is the area recruiter.
