Cougs move up in polls on strength of 7-game win streak; Washington State

AFTER WINNING ITS seventh game in a row, Washington State (7-2, 6-0 Pac-12) moved up in the polls this week. Where did the Cougars land?

The Amway Coaches Poll was released early Sunday morning. Cougar Nation will be quite happy to see Washington State making its way up the rankings following the Cougs' complete dismantling of Arizona on Saturday.

WSU jumped two spots up to No. 23 in the nation in the Coaches poll. Alabama continues to hold down the No. 1 position.

Wazzu garnered 331 points -- more than 100 points more than No. 24 Boise State in the Coaches poll. Yes, that's the same BSU the Cougs played the second game of this 2016 campaign. Clearly, the voters feel the two teams are in different spots at this stage of the season than they were back in Week Two.

The other Pac-12 teams ranked in the Coaches top 25: No. 4 Washington, No. 12 Utah and No. 15 Colorado.  (Southern Cal is effectively No. 26).
