For WSU's Luke Falk, election season is just starting

WASHINGTON STATE fans can put their appreciation for Cougar quarterback Luke Falk to work. Three post-season honor organizations — the Burlsworth Trophy, the Davey O’Brien Award and the Maxwell Award — are making fans a part of their selection processes.

Like last year, when Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma took home the hardware, Falk is a semi-finalist for the Burlsworth, which goes to the nation’s most outstanding player who began his career as a walk on. Click here to place your vote.

In addition, Falk — the reigning Davey O’Brien Quarterback of the Week for his dissection of Arizona last Saturday — is a semi-finalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, which goes to the nation’s outstanding quarterback.  Click here to vote.

Falk also is a semi-finalist for the Maxwell Award for the Collegiate Player of the Year. Here’s the link to their site, where fan voting goes until Nov. 21.

Falk is second in the country in passing yards-per-game (359.7), third in passing yards (3,237), fifth in total offense (353.7), seventh in passing touchdowns (28) and a national-best 74.1 completion percentage. The third-year junior has led the No. 23 ranked Cougars (7-2) to seven straight wins including a 6-0 start in Pac-12 Conference play and has tallied four 300-yard games and three 400-yard performances.
