NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 11

FOLLOWING HIS PROMOTION from the practice squad early last week, Dallas receiver Vince Mayle saw his first live action of the season in the Cowboys’ 27-7 win against Baltimore on Sunday.

The Wazzu great suited up for just one previous game in his two-year career, spending most of last season on the Dallas practice squad. Mayle was drafted in the fourth round by Cleveland, but was a late cut by the Browns before the 2015 campaign. He was signed by the Cowboys shortly thereafter.

An injury to Dallas reserve tight end Geoff Swaim led to Mayle’s call-up. He was not thrown to in the Dallas victory, but contributed one special teams tackle.

Arizona’s hybrid linebacker Deone Bucannon missed practice time during the week nursing a bum ankle, but played to form in the Cardinals’ 30-24 loss to Minnesota, posting five tackles (3 solo) and recovering a fumble.

Jacksonville running back Chris Ivory caught six passes on 6 targets for a career-best 75 yards in the Jaguars’ 26-19 loss to Detroit. He didn’t enjoy the same results running the ball, however, losing the ball early in the contest and averaging just 2.3 yards per carry (17 rushes for 39 yards). It was his forth lost fumble this season, most in the NFL.

Lion guard Joe Dahl had no recorded stats in the contest.

Former Cougar defensive mates, Cleveland’s Xavier Cooper and Philadelphia’s Destiny Vaeao, had quiet games, each showing up on the stat sheet with just one tackle assist. The Browns fell to Pittsburgh, 24-9, while the Eagles were defeated by Seattle, 26-15.

No updates on the status of Chicago receiver Marquess Wilson. He returned to practice two weeks ago following a foot injury that has sidelined him this season, but remains on the Bears’ PUP list. The club has until Nov. 28 to activate him or he’ll finish the year on the PUP.
