Washington State has already earned a bowl invitation but where will Cougs wind up? Some media picks may surprise

THE APPLE CUP has yet to be played but media are looking ahead to the Cougs' bowl game. Will Washington State be headed to the Rose Bowl? Holiday Bowl? Somewhere else? CF.C did some looking around at what they're saying and Cougar fans might be surprised by some of the predicted WSU bowl destinations charted by college football experts.

NOTE: CF.C analyst Matt Moore will have his second WSU bowl projection article, a comprehensive analysis of all the crimson bowl possibilities, up on Cougfan.com a little later today. Sneak peak: WSU is now locked into one of five bowl game possibilities.

The usual media suspects have boldly been predicting bowl game matchups for a while now but headed into the final week of Wazzu's regular season they are all in agreement on one thing: WSU won't be making a return visit to either the Sun Bowl (2015) or the New Mexico Bowl (2013).

The Cougars will be playing in a bowl game for the third time in the last four seasons under Mike Leach. Here's where the experts predict the Cougs will land:

ESPN, Brett McMurphy: Rose Bowl. Michigan vs. Washington State. Pasadena, Jan. 2.

ESPN, Mark Schlabach. Alamo Bowl. Oklahoma State vs. Washington State. San Antonio, Dec. 29.
