Common sense prevails: Cody O'Connell named Scout.com All-Pac-12 after conference leaves Coug LG off its first- and second-teams

SCORE ONE FOR common sense. Washington State guard Cody O'Connell is an Outland Trophy finalist and one of only three college football linemen, offense or defense, still being considered for the national award. The Pac-12 turned a few heads in naming O'Connell an honorable mention selections this week. Scout.com, however, got it right.

Scout.com's All-Pac-12 team on offense features two Cougs: O'Connell and WR Gabe Marks

"You know it's a strong year when such offensive studs as Luke Falk, Sefo Liufau, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Myles Gaskin and Phillip Lindsay, to name a few, don't make the Scout.com All Pac-12 team,” reads the article.

NOTABLE NOTE:

O'Connell, Ohio State center Pat Elflein and Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson are the finalists for the Outland. The winner will be announced Dec. 8.  O'Connell earlier this season was ranked No. 2 nationally among guards and No. 1 in pass protection by Pro Football Focus. He was named Midseason All-America First-Team by Fox Sports and CBSSports.com, and Midseason All-America Second-Team by Sports Illustrated.
