Timing out Sunday’s official WSU bowl announcement; here's what to know and what channel to watch for Cougar fans

THERE ARE 40 bowl games to announce on Sunday. And ESPN and its family of networks will take hours and hours to unveil them. Here’s your guide on how to watch, and when it will become official, where Washington State is going bowling.

The short answer: the official announcement for WSU's bowl game is scheduled to be made on ESPNU between 1-3 p.m. Pacific.

The first domino to fall during ESPN Informercial Selection Sunday: the four playoff teams. The quartet will be revealed between 9-9:30 a.m. on ESPN.   The network, according to its release, will then fill around two hours before announcing the four other New Year’s Six bowls. The pairings for the Rose, Orange, Sugar and Cotton will come “close” to 11:30 a.m. says ESPN.com.

Once the New Year’s Six are all announced around 11:30 a.m. a flurry of activity kicks off for the remaining 34 bowls -- with conferences and bowl partners connecting, and invitations being offered and accepted.

So sometime between 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., WSU is likely to have accepted an invitation to its bowl.  And then between 1-3 p.m. the pairings for the 34 bowls including the Alamo, Holiday, Foster Farms, Sun, etc. are to be officially announced on ESPNU .

WSU heading to the Holiday Bowl (pictured above) has far and away been the most popular prediction by ESPN and media outlets the past week.
