NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 14

WITH THREE GAMES left on the Arizona Cardinals’ slate, hybrid linebacker Deone Bucannon is on pace to lead his defensive squad in tackles, as he did in 2015.

Bucannon may not top his career-best 112 defensive stops posted last season, but his five tackles (4 solo) in Arizona’s 26-23 loss to Miami on Sunday has him atop the Cardinals’ defensive charts with 91 tackles.

Injuries continue to plague the two infamous Wazzu alums on NFL rosters, as receiver Marquess Wilson sat out Chicago’s 20-17 loss to Detroit with a groin injury sustained in week 13, while Jacksonville running back Chris Ivory’s lingering hamstring injury kept him from dressing for the Jaguars’ 25-16 loss to Minnesota.

And it was a quiet weekend stat-wise for the remainder of former Cougar alums in the big leagues.

Destiny Vaeao assisted with one tackle in Philadelphia’s 27-22 loss to Washington; Dallas receiver Vince Mayle helped out on one special teams stop in the Cowboys’ 10-7 fall to the New York Giants; and Xavier Cooper posted no recorded stats for the winless Cleveland Browns in their 23-10 loss to Cincinnati.

Joe Dahl also had no recorded stats from the Lions’ victory over the Bears.
