NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 15

THE SEASON HAS likely ended prematurely for a pair of Wazzu alums in the NFL, as injuries sustained last week by Arizona’s Deone Bucannon and Chicago’s Marquess Wilson have landed them on their squads’ injured reserve list.

With the Cardinals mathematically eliminated from play-off contention, it appears a high-ankle sprain Bucannon suffered in week 14 will keep him on the shelf for the remainder of the season.

Should that be the case, the dollar linebacker will finish this campaign with a stat line of 91 tackles (66 solo), 4 defensed passes, and 1 fumble recovery through 13 games.

Wilson sat week 14 with a groin injury, but it was the re-breaking of his left foot during workouts on Thursday that will keep him sidelined for the Bears’ final two games. This is the third such injury the receiver has endured in just over a year.

The fourth-year pro, who began the season on Chicago’s physically-unable to perform (PUP) list, appeared in just three games, catching nine passes on 16 targets for 160 yards (17.8 yard per catch) and 1 touchdown.

By season’s end Wilson will have missed 33 of 64 games over his NFL career because of injuries.

Guard Joe Dahl saw special teams action in Detroit’s 17-6 loss to the New York Giants, while fellow Cougs Xavier Cooper (Cleveland), Vince Mayle (Dallas), and Destiny Vaeao (Philadelphia) had no recorded stats on Sunday.

Jacksonville running back Chris Ivory ran the ball 10 times for 44 yards and had no receptions on 1 target in the Jaguars’ 21-20 loss to Houston.
