D-line coach Joe Salave’a agreed to a new, multi-year contract in recent days, per WSU SID

COUGAR DEFENSIVE LINE coach Joe Salave’a in recent days agreed to a new, multi-year deal to remain at Washington State, SID Bill Stevens told on Wednesday.

Joe Salave'a's new deal runs through June 2019. No additional details on the contract were immediately available other than an agreement was reached, Stevens said.

The Cougars' d-line coach made $375,000 in base salary this season. Before the new deal was struck, his salary was set to increase to $400,000 on Jan. 1.

The chatter around cyberspace of late had been that Oregon was taking a run at Salave’a under new Duck head coach Willie Taggart, with speculation ranging from the two sides talking to Salave’a being “close” to signing a new deal with Oregon.

CF.C asked Salave’a about the Oregon rumors last night after the Cougs' final practice in Pullman before leaving for San Diego, here’s what he had to say.
