NFL Cougar Highlights: Week 17

THE NFL REGULAR season ended with a resounding thud for Wazzu alums in the big leagues, as just three former Cougs were suited up for their finales.

Philadelphia’s Destiny Vaeao concluded his rookie campaign with two solo tackles in the Eagles’ 27-13 defeat of Dallas.

Cleveland’s Xavier Cooper also tallied two stops (1 solo) in the Browns’ 27-24 fall to Pittsburgh.

Although Detroit’s 31-24 loss to Green Bay kept them from an NFC North crown, guard Joe Dahl and his Lions are playoff-bound and will take on Seattle next Saturday in the Wild Card round.

Dahl saw special teams action in the fourth quarter for Detroit in their defeat.

Jacksonville’s Chris Ivory sat out the season-ender with ongoing hamstring issues, while Arizona’s Deone Bucannon (high ankle sprain) and Chicago’s Marquess Wilson (broken foot) finished the year on the injured reserve list.

Vince Mayle saw his dreams of playoff action disappear after being waived by Dallas on Thursday. However, his stay on the unemployment line was short-lived, as Baltimore added the receiver to their 53-man roster on Friday in anticipation of some pass-catching holes to fill next season.

He did not dress for the Ravens’ 27-10 loss to Cincinnati.

In related news, Seattle linebacker Kache Palacio was moved from the Seahawks’ practice squad to injured reserve on Tuesday.
