Report: Ducks close to hiring WSU defensive line coach Joe Salave’a

OREGON IS close to hiring Washington State defensive line coach Joe Salave'a away, CSNNW.com’s Aaron Fentress reports.

Salave'a visited Oregon this January, the report says.

Salave'a has coached the defensive line the past five years at WSU, since Mike Leach's first season at the helm in 2012. Salave'a has also been at the forefront of WSU's Polynesian recruiting pipeline.

In late December, Salave'a told CF.C he had no plans to leave.

Prior to WSU, Salave'a spent a year coaching the Arizona d-line (2011) and San Jose State (2008-2009).

Salave'a was a two-time All-Pac-10 performer at Arizona (1994-97) before playing eight years in the NFL.
