It came down to WSU and Purdue in the end, 3-star wide receiver Zico said. WSU's Mike Leach and outside receivers coach Dav Nichol came by Wednesday night for an in-home visit.
“The visit went very well … WSU is a great school and it’s a great football program,” said Zico. “It’s a good fit for me but I just pretty much summed it up by committing to Purdue.
“It was a two-way split decision between Wazzu and Purdue. It was just the atmosphere out there. I loved the atmosphere at Wazzu too … It was so hard telling Coach Leach that, because he basically wasn’t taking no for an answer.”
Zico has 3-to-play-2. He said he cancelled his planned official visit this weekend to West Virginia.
Washington State has several known receiving targets remaining on the board, including 4-star WR Braylon Sanders (deciding between WSU, Colorado State and Cincinnati). Also thought to be in the mix for Wazzu are Michael Onyemaobi, Travell Harris, Reggie Roberson, Jeremiah Hawkins and Bryan Thompson. Note: Shortly after this article was published, 4-star WR Jamire Calvin, who had narrowed his choices to WSU and Nebraska, announced he was headed to Lincoln.
