Cougar baseball fans everywhere can listen to more games this season; Matt Chazanow joined by WSU All-American Mike Kinkade on radio

COUGAR FANS on the west side of the state, and everywhere else too, can listen in on a lot more WSU baseball games this season. Last year, if you wanted to listen online to Cougar baseball, you were mostly out of luck. But in 2017, for the 38 games broadcast by Washington State IMG, every one of them will be available online for free.

NOTE: Look for Cougfan.com's baseball preview coming this week.  CF.C's Zach Anders sat down with WSU skipper Marty Less and got the skinny on the Cougs' season that gets underway Friday.

All 38 of the baseball radio broadcasts will be available through the WSU Gameday App via TuneIn, and can also be heard at wsucougars.com. Fans on the east side of the state can still fire up the old Philco -- the 38 radio broadcasts will be available on KQQQ (1150 AM). Meanwhile, 10 games will be broadcast on KXLY (920 AM) in Spokane, with 18 games available on KONA (610 AM) in the Tri-Cities.

The 38 radio broadcasts include all 30 of the Cougs' Pac-12 games, plus the three meetings vs. Gonzaga.

Matt Chazanow enters his second season of calling Cougar baseball and in 2017 will be joined in the booth by former Cougar baseball star and major leaguer Mike Kinkade (1992-95). Kinkade will serve as the radio analyst for all WSU home games and select road contests. Kinkade earned third-team All-American honors as a junior and finished his crimson career as WSU's all-time leader in hits, runs scored and doubles. He played six seasons in the big leagues with the Mets, Orioles and Dodgers.

Chazanow told CF.C the WSU radio broadcast will be appointment listening in 2017.

"It's really going to be a lot of fun. Mike knows Cougar baseball. He's an all-time Cougar great who played for Bobo Brayton, he played in the majors and he also coached for years in the minors. If you're interested in Cougar baseball, there's no better way to follow the team," said Chazanow.

WSU's season kicks off Friday at Sacramento State.  The first home series begins March 3 vs. Stephen F. Austin. The first radio broadcast is March 17 when the Cougars open Pac-12 play with a three-game series at USC.   Fifteen WSU baseball games will be televised by the Pac-12 Network this season: 14 Pac-12 games and one of the WSU-Gonzaga matchups.
