Coug walk on Kaleb Fossum, who took punt back to the house vs. Cal, is transferring to Nevada

WALK ON wide receiver Kaleb Fossum, a Cougar special teamer who took a punt back to the house against Cal this past season to snap a long crimson drought, announced his intention to transfer to Nevada on Twitter on Monday.

Fossum thanked the WSU coaching staff and particularly special teams coach Eric Mele in announcing his decision. The walk on said his transfer was for financial reasons.

Fossum appeared in all 13 WSU games as a second-year sophomore in 2016. He served primarily as punt returner and was also the field goal holder and returned some kickoffs.

He had 17 punt returns for 155 yards including the 75-yard touchdown vs. Cal.  The punt return for score was WSU’s first since 2005 (Michael Bumpus).

Fossum finished the 2016 campaign fourth in Pac-12 in punt return average (9.1 ypr).  He played in 11 games as a true freshman, primarily as the holder for field goals and extra points.
