Heartbreak in South Bend

AFTER A DOMINANT first half that saw Washington State jump out to a 19-0 lead over Notre Dame today in South Bend, the Cougars fell victim to penalties and miscues, eventually falling to the Irish 29-26 in overtime.

Notre Dame kicker Nick Setta booted the game winning field goal in overtime. WSU had first possession of the extra period, but Cougar kicker Drew Dunning hooked his attempt left.

Trailing 19-0 until late in the second quarter, the Irish scored 26 unanswered points before WSU QB Matt Kegel tossed a 34-yard touchdown pass to Sammy Moore with under a minute to play in regulation. Dunning's extra point tied the game at 26.
