Reggie Hughes (Brandon Huffman)

4-star Cali LB, member of Scout 300 is in town on an unofficial visit to Wazzu

A MEMBER OF the Scout 300 is out on the Palouse this weekend. The 4-star linebacker out of California is considered one of the elite pass rushers in the West.

Reggie Hughes, out of Calabasas, Calif., is at WSU today on an unofficial visit.  It’s unknown if Hughes will also be at Saturday’s spring game in Spokane, CF.C is waiting to hear back from Hughes when he has time to talk.

The 6-2, 212-pounder “is an explosive athlete with a great first step and can really get off the ball. He plays almost like a hybrid rush end/outside ‘backer and totaled 20 sacks as a junior,” said Scout.com’s Greg Biggins.

But would Hughes be a RUSH were he to come to WSU? What’s intriguing about Hughes is that he’s been showing on the spring 7v7 circuit that he’s very comfortable out in space, primarily lining up at middle linebacker.

Hughes racked up 69 tackles this past season, including 22 tackles-for-loss, with 20 sacks, 23 quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble in 15 games.

He is rated the No. 263 overall prospect nationally regardless of position. He is ranked the No. 21 outside linebacker prospect nationally, No. 9 in the West and No. 4 in California.
