Will it be Washington State for QB Brevin White?
The signal caller out of Lancaster, Calif. continues to be one of the main targets for WSU in its QB recruiting efforts. He and fellow hurlers Camm Cooper and Tyler Shough are the three known QB prospects with crimson offers.
And with a decision 'hopefully' coming soon for the Paraclete High QB, it’s clear the Cougars remain right in the hunt to potentially land White’s services.
“I’m talking to Coach Clay McGuire everyday,” White said. “It’s a daily convo with him. He’s doing a hell of a job recruiting me. He’s probably been a part of my process the longest. He offered me the summer going into my sophomore year.
“Obviously, it’s been a long time and you’re going to take that into account. They’re dedicated to you and put in the effort with all the mail and reaching out. It’s pretty unbelievable what the WSU coaches have been doing.”
White has been busy over the last month taking multiple unofficial visits. This includes recent treks to Tennessee, Harvard, North Carolina and Memphis. He has been offered this cycle by five Pac-12 schools: WSU, UW, ASU, Oregon State and Utah.
For the 6-2, 185-pounder, he said the plan is to narrow his list of offers down soon, and then schedule a last round of visits to his finalists before pulling the trigger.
Will the Cougs get one of those visits?
“They’re penciled in right now to get one of those visits, but it’s not permanent,” White said. “I’m in the final process of figuring that all out. I plan on making that visit, but it’s all not set in stone. I’m looking to get out there again in probably late June.”
White has already been to the Palouse multiple times, including a trip in late January. Since then, WSU continues to make things clear on how high of a priority he is moving forward.
“They want me and that’s been the message for quite some time,” he said. “They think I can excel in the program and the Air Raid. Coach Leach is a great coach and a guy who wants to finish up and stay at Wazzu as long as he can. That speaks to the program and their vision. They want me to be a Cougar. They’ve been preaching that since day one.”
A final decision for White could come as early as next month, but he added that he could wait until August.
White is ranked the No. 26 quarterback prospect nationally.
As for the other WSU QB recruits, here’s the latest on their recruitment:
• Another 4-star QB CF.C followers are quite familiar with is Cooper, ranked the No. 25 national QB prospect. He recently took an unofficial visit to Tennessee, but has been focusing on staying focused in the weight room as of late. He told CF.C in a recent interview that, along with being impressed with a recent visit by the WSU coaches to his high school in Utah, that he’s hoping to pack on some weight this offseason.
Well, if you follow him on Twitter, you saw he’s throwing up some massive numbers in the gym. Check it out for yourself.
• Another QB to keep an eye on is Arizona signal caller Shough. He's rated three stars and No. 66 nationally and holds an impressive offer list. The 6-5 QB landed his offer from WSU last month and has really seen his recruitment take off since.
He’s hauled in recent tenders from Louisville, Oregon State and Florida State.
He holds additional offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and many others. Shough recently said he’s hoping to take a visit to WSU sometime this month.
