More top 25 love for Cougs as Sports Illustrated becomes fourth to spot Cougs in their poll

SPORTS ILLUSTRATED is the latest to spot the Cougs in a “way too early” top 25 poll this offseason.

Following spring ball, Washington State is No. 22 in SI’s poll out today.

“Luke Falk is back, and now it’s just a matter of finding people to throw to after the departures of Gabe Marks and River Cracraft. It looks like Falk can spread the ball all over, in fact, between receivers Isaiah Johnson-Mack and Tavares Martin Jr. and running backs James Williams and Keith Harrington, all of whom were heavily involved in the pass game during the scrimmage,” writes SI’s Brian Hamilton.

Washington State is one of five Pac-12 teams in the Sports Illustrated top 25, joining USC (3); UW (8); Stanford (15) and Oregon (25).

CBS, Bleacher Report and Athlon have the Cougs unranked in their preseason top 25 polls.  Three other media outlets, however, see things similar to the way SI does.

Fox, Sporting News and ESPN rank WSU 21st, 23rd and 25th, respectively, in their top 25 polls.

Washington State opens its 2017 season at home against Montana State on Sept. 2.

WSU returning starters in 2017: 7 offense, 9 defense, 2 special teams.
