Lots of WSU picks on Athlon All-Pac-12 team

WASHINGTON STATE has the fourth-most picks in the conference on Athlon’s All-Pac-12 teams.

Among the 1 Wazzu all-conference selections, offensive guard Cody O’Connell and DL Hercules Mata’afa are on the first team while offensive tackle Cole Madison was named second team.

Quarterback Luke Falk, linebacker Peyton Pelluer, wide receiver Tavares Martin Jr. and corner Darrien Molton were Athlon third-team selections.  Running backs Jamal Morrow and James Williams, safety Jalen Thompson and kicker Erik Powell were named to Athlon’s fourth team.

Oregon, 4-8 last year, led the way with 14 total selections. UW was second with 13, Stanford had 12 and Washington State and USC each had 11 picks.

“An important note on the all-conference teams: These are based on how players will perform in 2017. Career statistics and awards matter in the evaluation, but choosing players for the 2017 all-conference team is largely based on predicting and projecting the best for the upcoming year,” writes Athlon.
