Cougs on pace for season tickets record

WASHINGTON STATE's 17 wins the past two seasons are having an impact at the football ticket office. WSU SID said in a release Wednesday the Cougs are on pace to break the season ticket sales record of last year.

WSU has sold 13,800 season tickets.

At this time last year, WSU had sold 13,500 and wound up setting the all-time mark at 14,200.

“This season we are trending for an all-time high without hosting the Apple Cup,” said Bill Stevens in the release.

WSU's home slate in 2017 consists of seven games, including the first five: Montana State, Boise State, Oregon State, Nevada, USC, Colorado (homecoming) and Stanford.

More work remains, however. Washington State AD Bill Moos has said the next step in the process is for WSU to reach 18,000 season tickets, with a base of 18,000 allowing for sustainability.

Before last year, it is believed the previous all-time high in season tickets sold was 13,900 sold during the Cougs' streak of three 10-win seasons from 2001-03.
