Run down of quack attack on Cougs

Lofty dreams of a perfect season and top-tier BCS ranking washed away in rain-soaked Martin Staduim today. The results, painful stat after painful stat ...

A potential game-tying Washington State drive stalled eight-yards shy of the end zone, as the Oregon Ducks defeated the Cougars, 24-17.

Duck running back Onterrio Smith ran for a school record 285 yards to lead Oregon and hand WSU their first loss of the season.

The Cougar loss—coupled with an earlier UCLA loss to Stanford today—has created a logjam of one-loss teams in the Pac-10 conference. Five teams now have one conference loss each.

The Cougs had one final shot to send the game into overtime with two ticks on the clock when a Jason Gesser pass to Mike Bush fell incomplete.

WSU and UO are now 7-1 and 4-1 in Pac-10 conference play.
