TWO OF THE greatest players ever to roam the Washington State defensive backfield came up big for their teams in the opening weekend of NFL play. Here's our weekly look at how <b>Lamont Thompson, Erik Coleman,</b> and the rest of the NFL Cougars did this weekend:

D.D. Acholonu, LB, Houston: Did not play; practice squad.

Drew Bledsoe, QB, Buffalo: Completed 17 of 26 passes for 153 yards and one TD in Bills 13-10 loss to Jacksonville.

Isaac Brown, LB, Seattle: Did not play; practice squad.

Erik Coleman, S, New York Jets: Made game-saving interception in Jets 31-24 victory over Cincinnati. Also recorded four tackles.

Devard Darling, WR, Baltimore: No stats.

James Darling, LB, Arizona: Forced one fumble and recorded five solo tackles in Cardinals 17-10 loss to St. Louis. 87-yard INT return for TD was called back on a holding penalty.

Jason David, CB, Indianapolis: Recorded two solo tackles in 24-24 Indy loss to New England.

Chad Eaton, DT, Dallas: Made three tackles in Cowboys 35-17 loss to Minnesota.

Mark Fields, LB, Carolina: Tallied six stops--five of 'em solo--in 24-14 Panther loss to Green Bay on Monday night. Suffered a rib contusion.

Steve Gleason, S, New Orleans: No stats.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit:Was a perfect 2 of 2 on field goals and PATs in 20-16 Lion victory over Chicago.

Joey Hollenbeck, C, Seattle: Did not play; practice squad.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo: Connected on one of two field goal attempts and one extra point in Bills 12-10 loss to Jacksonville.

Rien Long, DT, Tennessee: Notched three solo tackles, including one sack, in 17-7 Titan victory over Miami. Suffered mild ankle sprain and is listed as day-to-day.

Rob Meier, DE, Jacksonville: Registered one tackle in Jags 13-10 win over Buffalo.

Raonall Smith, LB, Minnesota: No stats.

Lamont Thompson, S, Tennessee: Returned an interception 37 yards for a touchdown and recorded two tackles in 17-7 Titan win over Miami. Strained his collarbone and is listed day-to-day.

Robbie Tobeck, C, Seattle: Started in Seahawks 21-7 victory over New Orleans.

Marcus Trufant, CB, Seattle: Three solo tackles in Seahawks 21-7 victory over New Orleans.

Brian Walker, S, Detroit: Did not play; injured reserve.

Cory Withrow, C, Minnesota: No stats.
