The Crimson Seer's forecast of Pac-10 bowl chances

Trojan players back on the payroll; Husky QB escapes long arm of the law; Joey named King of my Computer for life...all this and more in the final 2001 installment of Pac-10 Picks!

Las Vegas Bowl (Dec. 25):

SOUTHERN CAL (6-5) v UTAH (7-4)

News that Trojan players are being allowed to pocket their excess travel expenses got me nostalgic: remember back in the day when paying USC players actually produced championships?

Pick: Trojans

Seattle Bowl (Dec. 27):

Wondering why the Palo Altoans so readily accepted an invite to the Seattle Bowl? Let's just say it may have had something to do with the Star Trek Con 2001 taking place at the Tukwila Best Western that same week.

Yellow Jackets reflect on former G-Tech and Notre Dame coach George O'Leary and note that, come to think of it, his pants did appear to be aflame quite often.

Pick: Cardinal

Holiday Bowl (Dec. 28):

WASHINGTON (8-3) v TEXAS (10-2)

Good news for Montlakers: QB Transferring Taylor Barton cleared of recent criminal trespassing charges! Thank goodness he had teammate Jerramy "Cool Hand" Stevens to guide him through the complicated King County legal system.

Pick: Huskies

Sun Bowl (Dec. 31):

Coach-for-life St. Mike Price says Cougs not looking past Boilerroomers despite their mediocre record and recent exodus of players. In fact, he insists, his Crimson Soldiers haven't been this jacked since the Montana game.

Pick: Cougars

Fiesta Bowl (Jan. 1):

OREGON (10-1) v COLORADO (10-2)

Those dirty bastards can rob Broadway Joey Harrington of the Heisman and national championship crown, but they'll never, and I repeat, NOT EVER, take away my Joey screensaver!

Pick: Ducks

Last time: 3-0

Season: 47-17
