11/03 Recruiting Wire Trip Report - Arkelon Hall

Cougfan.com spoke with highly touted quarterback and WSU verbal commit Arkelon Hall on how his season is shaping up, his official visit to Pullman this past weekend and why he knew Washington State was the place for him.

A team captain for Edison (6-2), Arkelon Hall led the Tigers this year through the toughest preseason football schedule in the Central Section. Hall and the team came through it battle tested and are now on a roll, preparing to finish out the regular season and head into the postseason.

On the offense hanging 40 on Bullard and 39 on Reedley the last two weeks...
"We're playing alright, but we can get better. We're making a few little minor mistakes but we're going to get those cleared up and get ready for the playoffs."

On how the season is going...
"We're No. 3 in northern California, No. 1 in our section and either 10th or 11th in the state."

On some of his strengths at QB...
"I have a pretty good arm. I read coverages very well and I have pretty good accuracy too."

Hall is very solid in all areas, but like any good player, there are things he still hopes to improve...
"My speed, my drops, ball position on my drop backs. Just to keep up on my mechanics -- they're pretty good but I just want (to keep working on everything.)"

On some of the highlights of the trip...
"The snow," he joked. "I'm from California, the only time it snows down here is if you go up on a mountain. No, we had a great time with people showing us around the campus and stuff like that. It's a great campus up there at Washington State."

On meeting Shelton Danzy at Sea-Tac before heading on to Pullman...
"As soon as I get to Seattle, I see Shelton walking up...We're great friends, we met at camp and we were just happy to see each other again."

On seeing Jonathan Stewart again...
Oh yeah we hung out a lot. And he was my roommate in (the WSU summer) camp this year. On seeing Jesse Canada again...
"I had met Jesse at the USC combine, and we just bettered our friendship on this trip. It seemed like he really liked Wazzu a lot too."

On spending time with the coach Bill Doba, quarterbacks coach Timm Rosenbach and all of the assistant coaches...
"We spent time with all the coaches. All the coaches came and picked us up from the airport and that was great. I liked seeing that, coming in and seeing all the coaches there. It was a great welcome. And when we were leaving, all the coaches were there too. And we spent time with coach Doba a lot, and that was nice -- to hang out with the head coach. And I hung out with my position coach, coach Rosenbach. We basically hung out with everybody."

Besides the campus, the school and the coaches, what else was key in Hall's decision to verbally commit to WSU...
"The people there are just real nice too. Just random people come up to you and are real friendly. The whole town is involved with Cougar football."

Hall went on to say the visit "definitely" just further convinced him of one thing -- that his decision to verbally commit to Washington State was the right one for him.
