RECRUITING: Down to two for Canada

THE PICTURE is now beginning to come into sharper focus for Monrovia, Calif., wide receiver Jesse Canada. There's been some changes at the top, and it looks like its down to just two schools for the offensive playmaker.

Washington State is no longer in the running for Jesse Canada.

The four-star wide receiver from Monrovia High told on Sunday it's now pretty much a two horse race between Cal and Oregon. Canada tripped to Oregon two weeks ago, and then took in the Big Game at Cal on an official visit last weekend.

Said Canada of how Oregon and California compare; "As of today, after my home visit from Oregon, I'd probably say they're tied."

The 6-3, 190-pound Canada said Oregon made a strong impression during his official visit, and then later on the in-home visit today, (Sunday).

"They went pretty good," said Canada about the two trips. "Oregon was definitely the best trip that I had overall. And the Cal trip went pretty good, not quite as expected but it did go okay."

Two other schools, Arizona State and Oregon State can still be considered in the game, but they're most certainly on the outside looking in as of now.

"I would say that its really pretty much between Oregon and Cal at this point. Oregon State I haven't been to -- they're still definitely in the running but I'm really looking at this trip that I'm taking (to Corvalis on Dec 3) as pretty much a 'Show me everything you have,' because Oregon and Cal are at the top right now."

"Oregon State still has a chance but outside of's pretty much those three."

Canada later included Arizona State as a school he'd consider. He plans on taking his fifth and final official visit to Tempe in December but it's clear both they and Oregon State have some real catching up to do to gain ground on his two leaders. Canada's official visit to ASU is on Dec 10.

Canada said he anticipates making a decision sometime after Christmas.
