WSU season opener to be televised

Washington State and Fox Sports Net Northwest officially announced today an agreement has been reached to televise WSU's season-opening football game with Idaho September 1. Coverage begins at 6:30pm with FSN Live, while game time has been set for 7pm at Martin Stadium.

"It is important for both teams to have this game shown throughout the Northwest," WSU Atheltics Director Jim Sterk said. "We are supportive of FSN's efforts to televise the game live so our fan base who cannot be in Pullman will have the opportunity to watch the Cougars."

The broadcast team of Rich Cellini and Cougar great Mark Rypien will call the action.

A total of five Cougar football games have been selected for live national or regional television, including the first WSU road game at Nevada on September 9. The Cougs and Wolf Pack will play in front of a national audience on ESPN at 7pm.

ABC has selected WSU's game at USC Oct. 29, while FSN has picked WSU's final two games of the regular season for live viewing. The WSU-Oregon game Nov. 12 in Pullman is slated for 7:15pm and the annual Apple Cup battle with Washington in Seattle on November 19 will be shown at 12:15pm.

Other Cougar games during the Pacific-10 Conference schedule may be selected during the season for broadcast by ABC, FSN or TBS.
