PHOTO ESSAY: WSU 48, GSU 7

SEATTLE -- Coach Bill Doba wasn't especially thrilled with Washington State's execution in the first half but ultimately, the Cougars' sharpened focus --- on both the lens and the scoreboard --- revealed itself in Wazzu's 48-7 triumph over Grambling State. Here's a CF.C exclusive photo essay of the Crimson horde as the Cougs dispatched the Tigers Saturday at Qwest Field to go 3-0 on the season.

It's a group effort for the WSU defense as Steve Dildine (49), Eric Frampton (37), Alex Teems (21) and others converge on Grambling State quarterback Bruce Eugene Saturday at Qwest Field in Seattle. Washington State tallied 7 sacks on the day, with senior defensive tackle Bryan Olson leading the way with two sacks. (Note: The official statistician notes a "team" sack and one sack for Olson, whereas Cougfan.com logs two sacks for Olson).


Alex Brink, one of three WSU quarterbacks to play Saturday, completed 19 of 29 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns. Sophomore left tackle Bobby Byrd, shown at right, is setting up a wall to protect the quarterback. The Cougs did not allow a sack on the day.


Jason Hill had another monster day against Grambling State, with 10 catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Hill, with six touchdown receptions in three games, is already halfway towards his record setting mark of last season with 12 TD grabs.
