NFL Cougar Highlights, 9/19/05

IT WAS THE battle of two Apple Cup legends on Monday, as Washington State legend Drew Bledsoe and his Dallas Cowboys faced off against Husky great Mark Brunell and his Washington Redskins. Sadly, the bad guys—the other Washington—came out on top. Find out how all of the pro Cougars did in our week two edition of NFL Cougar Highlights.

Calvin Armstrong, OT, Philadelphia, rookie: Declared inactive for the Eagles' 42-3 win against San Fran.

Drew Bledsoe, QB, Dallas, 13th season: The reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week connected on 21-36 passes for 261 yards and one TD in Cowboys' 14-13 loss to Washington. Also rushed the ball two times for five yards.

Erik Coleman, S, New York Jets, 2nd season: Recorded two tackles, assisted on another and defensed one pass in Jets' 17-7 win against Miami. The Spokane native suffered a dislocated fracture of his right thumb and underwent surgery today. His status for week three is uncertain.

Devard Darling, WR, Baltimore, 2nd season: Declared inactive for Ravens' 25-10 fall to Tennessee.

James Darling, LB, Arizona, 9th season: Declared inactive due to a bruised knee suffered in the third quarter of the Cards' season opener. It is unlikely he will suit up for week three action.

Jason David, CB, Indianapolis, 2nd season: Made two tackles and assisted on another in Indy's 10-3 win against Jacksonville.

Steve Gleason, S, New Orleans, 5th season: No stats from Saints' 27-10 loss to the New York Giants.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 14th season: Declared inactive due to straining his right hamstring in last week's contest. The Spokane native had participated in 209 consecutive regular season games. Lions have a bye next weekend so Hanson will likely be ready for week four action.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo. 6th season: Connected on a 40-yard FG in Bills' 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay.

Rien Long, DT, Tennessee, 3rd season: Tallied one tackle in Titans' 25-10 victory against Baltimore.

Rob Meier, DE, Jacksonville, 6th season: No stats from Jags' 10-3 loss to Indianapolis.

Karl Paymah, CB, Denver, rookie: Declared inactive for the Broncos' 20-17 win against San Diego.

McKenzi Smith, RB, Kansas City, 2nd season: Did not play. Assigned to Chiefs' practice squad.

Raonall Smith, LB, Minnesota, 4th season: No stats from Vikings' 37-8 loss to Cincy.

Lamont Thompson, S, Tennessee, 4th season: Notched three solo stops and one assist in Titans' 25-10 defeat of Baltimore.

Robbie Tobeck, C, Seattle, 13th season: Started for Hawks in their 21-18 defeat of Atlanta.

Marcus Trufant, CB, Seattle, 3rd season: Recorded one tackle and one assist in Hawks' 21-18 victory against Atlanta.

Cory Withrow, C, Minnesota, 7th season: Started at center in Vikings' 37-8 loss to Cincinnati. Also recorded one tackle on one of Dante Culpepper's five interceptions.

In other NFL Cougar news, LB D.D. Acholonu,, who was recently released by the Houston Texans, had a try out with San Diego last week. No indication that the Chargers will sign Acholonu, however.
