NFL Cougar Highlights: Week Four

KEEPING WITH THE gloomy theme of Washington State's stomach-turning loss to Oregon State yesterday, only four of the active NFL Cougars came out of Sunday's pro contests a winner—and one of them injured his thumb in the process. Calvin Armstrong, OT, Philadelphia, rookie: Declared inactive for the Eagles' 37-31 come-from-behind victory against Kansas City.

Drew Bledsoe, QB, Dallas, 13th season: Connected on 11 of 26 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Cowboys' 19-13 loss to Oakland. Also ran the ball once for seven yards. The Walla Walla native nearly repeated his second consecutive comeback, but a fourth down pass in the red zone fall inches short.

Erik Coleman, S, New York Jets, 2nd season: Recorded one interception and defensed a pass in Jets' 13-3 losing effort at Baltimore. Also tallied five tackles and played a part in three others.

Devard Darling, WR, Baltimore, 2nd season: Declared inactive for Ravens' 13-3 victory over the New York Jets.

James Darling, LB, Arizona, 9th season: Tallied three solo tackles and two assists in Cards' 31-14 win against San Fran.

Jason David, CB, Indianapolis, 2nd season: Notched four solo stops during Indy's 31-10 spanking of Tennessee.

Steve Gleason, S, New Orleans, 5th season: No stats from Saints' 19-7 win against Buffalo. The Spokane product sustained a thumb injury during the contest. The extent of the injury is not yet known.

Jason Hanson, K, Detroit, 14th season: Booted two field goals (from 44 and 23 yards) and one PAT in Lions' 17-13 loss to Tampa Bay.

Rian Lindell, K, Buffalo. 6th season: Kicked one extra-point in Bills' 19-7 loss to the Saints.

Rien Long, DT, Tennessee, 3rd season: Recorded two tackles and assisted on another in Titans' 31-10 fall to Indy.

Rob Meier, DE, Jacksonville, 6th season: Posted three tackles—including one sack for a 6-yard loss—and assisted on another in Jags' 20-7 loss to Denver.

Karl Paymah, CB, Denver, rookie: No stats from Broncos' 20-7 victory against Jacksonville.

McKenzi Smith, RB, Kansas City, 2nd season: Did not play. Assigned to Chiefs' practice squad.

Raonall Smith, LB, Minnesota, 4th season: Posted one tackle in Vikings' 30-10 fall to Atlanta.

Lamont Thompson, S, Tennessee, 4th season: Made two defensive stops and assisted on two more in Titans' 31-10 loss to Indy.

Robbie Tobeck, C, Seattle, 13th season: Started for Hawks in their 20-17 overtime loss to Washington.

Marcus Trufant, CB, Seattle, 3rd season: Posted five solo tackles and defensed one pass in Seahawks' 20-17 overtime loss to the ‘Skins.

Cory Withrow, C, Minnesota, 7th season: Started at center in Vikings' 30-10 loss to Atlanta.
